Eat More Beef!
If you are following my blog, you will remember that I have made the decision to get heart healthy, loose some weight and get in shape. It has been about 2 weeks now and I am sticking to a regular routine. (I know two weeks is not a lot, but hey, I have quit programs after two days!)
Working out has not been the biggest issue. Since I am in construction, most of my days are filled with physical activity. The workouts are definitely hard work and I wake up the next morning feeling like I worked out the day before. But it is a good feeling. Changing my eating habits, on the other hand, has been more of a trial.
With Angela’s guidance, we decided that I need to try to eat 200 grams of protein a day. If you are not familiar with this concept, a protein is basically meat, poultry, fish or dairy. A 4-ounce chicken breast has 36 grams of protein in it. A 10-ounce steak has 57 grams. Getting 200 grams of protein each day is not an easy task.
In fact, finding a healthy intake of protein, and a balance of it, is just plain hard. I have never felt so full all the time. I’m basically force feeding myself: chicken, beef, eggs, sausage, yogurt and salad with as much protein as possible. Then sometimes between meals, I need to eat more or drink a protein shake.
I have had a few conversations with Angela about this and she keeps reassuring me to EAT! Thankfully in just in the last couple of days the full feeling and force feeding has diminished. I find myself actually getting hungry again. But eating other then what I have been eating, (protein) is not a good idea. In my hurried and busy schedule, I was out running around and grabbed a fast food lunch. I paid for that for the next day. Now I know the meaning of eat clean.
Till next time, hang in there with me! And if you are looking for a great place to start, check out Angela’s place at Benefit Studio.
