The Story of the Tortoise and the Hare…

Once upon a time there was a tortoise who was very slow. Along came a hare who was very fast. Oh, you know that story, right?  Well that is not this one.

So far the journey has been slow and painful…..  I’m just kidding! I’m loving it! It’s only been a few weeks since starting this journey towards healthier living. So far I’ve had a few ups and downs.

Work, family, work, 2nd job, coaching, life! Life can get in the way of a healthy lifestyle really quick. That seems funny because the purpose is to have a better life and enjoy it more. Balancing it all is the trick.

In the age-old story of the tortoise and the hare, the rabbit made fun of the turtle, running circles around him and then ran ahead to grab a nap. While he was sleeping the turtle caught up and finished the race ahead of the rabbit. I am not in this race for a sprint, it’s more like a fast jog that just keeps me moving.

Somehow, I have managed to find time to do all that needs to be done. My wife has been super supportive. And although I sometimes groan at the thought of more exercise after a full day on the job site, I really do look forward to my workout time at the gym.

In an effort to encourage our daughter,(and set a good example, and keep myself moving)  I bought a bicycle a few weeks ago. I’m finally starting to get to use it now the weather is cooperating.  I went for a ride with my daughter this evening and loved every minute. We have even gotten up early in the mornings for a quick ride before dropping her off at school!

The most difficult part is getting my saddle calluses — buttttt…….I am doing in!  LOL!

I can vouch for the fact that the only way to finish the race is to get out and work out!

It’s finally time to enjoy this beautiful spring weather! (Let the rabbit sleep!)- Eric S.

There’s NO quick fix to anything! In almost every aspect of  life we are continually striving to do better, be better or change it up. It’s cliche but… good things come to those who put in the work!- Ang
